Lesson Description

Ysaye wrote his six Violin solo sonatas to express the evolution of musical techniques and expressions of his time, using the prominent characteristics of the early 20th century, such as whole tone scales and quarter notes, as well as virtuoso bowing. In this one-movement work, our teacher explains fundamental rules to express the rich textures, chromaticisms, and scale passages, with special topics about the Spanish inspiration of the piece.
