April 2020 / ©iClassical Academy

Bach equals Easter. There's an irresistible cultural-historical connection between the two, as churches and concert halls around the world would resound with Bach's Passions and choral masterpieces. Unlike this time, where we encounter social distancing, and we choose to stay at home for everyone's sake.

The iClassical Academy Team thanks all those people who are active in vital professions and who keep our society afloat in these difficult times. We are also grateful for the gift of music and for all of you musicians, whether you are a professional, a student or an amateur player; your musical support helps us to maintain a positive mind and attitude.

We'll keep you informed about our online activities and share knowledge about online teaching and the best tools and tips on our social media.

New in April: Bach Cello Masterclass Silvia Chiesa, two Bach Masterclasses for Violin and Piano, Bach Cello Masterclass Jakob Kullberg

and two new musiMentor courses!

New Cello Master Teacher & Bach Masterclass

Bach Cello Suite No.3 in C major, BWV 1009 Prélude /Allemande/Courante/

Silvia Chiesa -  Cello Professor

Known as a refined and passionate interpreter, Silvia Chiesa teaches at the "Monteverdi" Institute of Musical Studies in Cremona.

Bach Cello suites are some of the most frequently performed and recognizable solo compositions ever written for cello. Bach most likely composed them during the period 1717–23, and as well as he did for violin, he combined a wide range of demanding phrases. Master Teacher Silvia Chiesa examines together with her assistant Andrea Nocerino, the compositions particularly from the perspective of dynamics and indicates step by step the cardinal points which are the fundamentals to achieve excellent performance, still respecting the different features that every player has.

NEW VIOLIN MASTERCLASS

Bach - Partita N° 2 in D minor for solo violin (BWV 1004) III. Sarabande

Master Teacher Janna Gandelman

Concertmaster of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra & Professor at the Jerusalem Conservatory of Music and Buchman Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University.

This lesson is a real video-manual about how to transform technique into a beautiful interpretation, something that could be crucial to play any solo performance, not only this very famous one. You'll find an indispensable guide recurring all along about how to make your music, according to your style, but never trespassing the boundaries of Tempo.

NEW PIANO MASTERCLASS

J. S. Bach "Italian Concerto" - 1st mov

Master Teacher Maurizio Baglini

Professor at the conservatories in Cremona, Parma and Udine. Artistic director and one of the founders of the Amiata International piano festival in Tuscany and artistic director of Teatro di Pordenone.

Originally titled "Concerto nach Italienischen Gusto" (Concerto in the Italian taste), composed for harpsichord, it later became popular among Bach's keyboard works, it has been widely recorded both on the harpsichord and the piano. In this masterclass, you can appreciate the style and elegance of Professor Baglini and his assistant Michele Campo. They work on the original brightness and agility of the harpsichord style opposed to solidity and heavy sound of some modern performing techniques.

NEW CELLO MASTERCLASS

Bach Cello Suite No. 5 - Gavotte

Jakob Kullberg - Cello Professor Royal Academy of Music London

Jakob Kullberg is one of the most active and diverse young Danish instrumentalists. Praised internationally for his performances of the modern cello concerto, Jakob Kullberg studied in Amsterdam, London, Zagreb, Vienna and Copenhagen, with Harro Ruijsenaars, Dmitri Ferschtman, Valter Despalj, Mats Lidström, Morten Zeuthen and Anner Bylsma.
