Breathe Together, Move Together, Play Together Pedagogy Project Video Series

Regarded internationally as an innovative pedagogue and leader in chamber music education, Deborah Barrett Price, Founder and Artistic Director of Chamber Music Connection (CMC), created the Breathe Together, Move Together, Play Together Pedagogy Project Video Series to provide educators, professionals, amateurs, and students with tried-and-true activities for successful participation in chamber music. Recipient of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Award for Extraordinary Service to Chamber Music, Debbie has spent the last 30 years developing pedagogical techniques to engage students from the earliest skill level leading up to the most advanced. The Pedagogy Project embodies Debbie’s mantra-- “Breath Together, Move Together, Play Together”--supporting the joyful connection to others through music and movement. Teachers, professionals, students, and amateur musicians will enjoy the benefits these videos provide successfully.

Decades of experience teaching and performing chamber music

The Pedagogy Project has garnered Debbie’s decades of experience teaching and performing chamber music into an inspiring video series transforming chamber music education and performance into adaptable activities to explore coaching and rehearsing while encouraging joy and passion for the musicians' audience.

Enthusiasm manifests as participants engage in the activities and experience Debbie’s interaction with her students, sharing and encouraging creative approaches to bringing out the broad range of characters, emotions, and stories conveyed from playing chamber music together.

Debbie’s message

Debbie’s passion for music and movement began early in her childhood playing chamber music on her great grandfather’s violin with her family. Throughout her youth, she studied dance and music under the mentorship of artists from the New York City Ballet, Philadelphia Orchestra, New School of Ballet, and Skidmore Dance. At The Chamber Music Connection, the nonprofit organization she founded 30 years ago, she continues to weave music and dance into her professional career. The culmination of this life of joyful connection to others through music and movement is embodied in Debbie’s message of “Breath together, move together, play together.”

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Award

In recognition of her work as a chamber music entrepreneur, pedagogue, and performer Debbie has received awards, including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Award for Extraordinary Service to Chamber Music, Baldwin Wallace Conservatory Alumni Achievement Award, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra Community Educator of the Year, and multiple nominations for the Ohio Governor’s Award for Arts Education and Arts Administration. In addition, chamber ensembles under her mentorship have medaled in prestigious chamber competitions, including the Fischoff, Coltman, WDAV Young Musicians, Discover, Chicago, and St. Paul String Quartet events, as well as features on NPR’s From the Top radio program and Emmy award-winning “Live! From Carnegie Hall,” and from CMS of Lincoln Center in Alice Tully Hall.
