Ligeti Sonata for Cello Solo

Teacher:
Denis Zhdanov

Composer:
Ligeti

Lesson Description

Very original and innovative composition (1953), artistically influenced by Bartok's musical mentality. The 1st movement, the Dialogo, renders a dialogue between two persons, using the bow for one, and Pizzicato for the other, and combining a wide variety of techniques. The 2nd movement (Capriccio) is a very demanding and virtuoso.
