Bach Violin Partita No. 1 in Bm, I Allemande Double

Teacher:
Miriam Fried

Composer:
Bach

Lesson Description

This Masterclass is about the so-called "Double," which is a movement that elaborates upon the Bass line of the previous one. Tutorial A is mostly dedicated to bowing and arm movement, including a dissertation about the baroque bow. Being a kind of variation, the sound that you get is crucial to express the meaning of the piece, and Tutorial B is especially dedicated to this argument. Professor Fried also anticipates some of the topics contained in her online video encyclopedia about Bach Violin solo pieces entitled "J.S. BACH: ASSEMBLING THE MUSICAL PUZZLE". An indispensable tool for any violinist.
