Ysaye wrote his six Violin solo sonatas in order to express the evolution of musical techniques and expressions of his time, using the prominent characteristics of the early 20th century such as whole tone scales and quarter notes, as well as virtuoso bow. In this one-movement work, our teacher explains very important rules in order to express the so rich textures, chromaticisms and scale passages, with special topics about the Spanish inspiration of the piece.
