Course description

Alexander Chausian leads a compelling series of three masterclasses, each focusing on a cornerstone of the cello repertoire. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to delve into the depth and nuance of some of the most expressive works ever written for the instrument:
1) Explore the rich lyricism and architectural mastery of Brahms’s first cello sonata.
2) Dive into Tchaikovsky’s elegant homage to the classical style. This masterclass uncovers the technical brilliance and stylistic charm of this virtuosic staple.
3) Conclude the series with Saint-Saëns’ dramatic and exhilarating concerto, celebrated for its seamless structure and vibrant character.

After his initial studies in Armenia, Alexander Chaushian studied in the UK at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. He then pursued advanced studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Berlin. He is a prize-winner in numerous prestigious competitions.
