Honoring the Legacy of Gyorgy Pauk (1936–2024)
Recognized as one of the leading violinists of his generation, Gyorgy Pauk was born in Budapest and educated at the renowned Franz Liszt Academy. After more than five decades on the world’s greatest stages, he gave his farewell concert in 2008 with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer.
As a Professor at the Royal Academy of Music in London and Professor Emeritus of the Franz Liszt Academy, he shared his artistry with generations of violinists, inspiring students across Europe, the US, and Asia.
He performed on the magnificent Massart Stradivarius (1714) — an instrument worthy of his golden touch.
On November 18, 2024, Prof. Pauk passed away in Budapest at the age of 88.
His music, teaching, and spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of musicians worldwide.
