Chapter 5 Choosing Your Own Choice Piece: Chopin – Waltz in A minor (KK. IVb No. 11)

(Note from the Teacher: Although the Chopin Waltz is listed in the 2025–2026 syllabus as B7, I am happy to present it as the "Own Choice" piece for this preparation course.)

This session is dedicated to developing a clear and stylistically sound interpretation of Chopin’s Waltz in A minor. The main focus is on shaping musical phrases and refining ornamentation, including the accurate execution of grace notes. Special attention is given to working through the technically challenging passage, ensuring clarity, evenness, and control. Guidance is also provided on coordinating both hands and maintaining balance throughout the piece, helping students achieve a confident and well-prepared performance suitable for ABRSM Grade 6.
