About Matthias Kadar
Matthias Kadar is a composer, singer, and educator celebrated for his idiosyncratic musical language and distinctive compositional approach.
He studied composition and piano with Christian Lauba in Bordeaux before continuing his studies with Theo Loevendie at the Amsterdam Conservatory. Throughout his career, Kadar has composed approximately 200 works for solo voice and instrument, chamber ensembles, orchestra, and music theatre, with performances presented across Europe, the United States, Australia, and Asia.
As both composer and performer, he has collaborated with many of the world's leading concert halls and international festivals, bringing his music to many of the world's leading concert halls and international festivals. For more than a decade, he worked closely with Iván Fischer on a wide range of innovative musical projects, further enriching his unique artistic vision.
In Make Your Own Song, Matthias shares the creative philosophy that has shaped his own musical life—helping students discover that songwriting is not about following formulas, but about listening deeply, trusting their instincts, and giving their own musical voice the freedom to emerge.
