Bio

Born in 1997 in la Garriga, Barcelona, Mariona started playing the cello under the mastery of Anna Mora and later of Lluís Claret, with whom she’s working at present at l’Escola de Música “Victòria dels Àngels” in Sant Cugat del Vallès.

Mariona Has Studied All Over the World

She has also received master classes from Maria de Macedo at Fórum de Violonchelos de Madrid, Hillel Zori at Conservatori Liceu de Barcelona, Jacob Shaw at the Junior Academy Leopold Mozart in Augsburg, Julius Berger at the Junior Academy Leopold Mozart, at the Sommerakademie of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, at the Internationale Musikakademie für Solisten in Bückeburg (Germany), with Laurence Lesser at The International Holland Music Sessions, Jens Peter Maintz at Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón and Damien Ventula and Asier Polo. In 2014 she participated at the Masterclass de violoncelle à Conques with Gary Hoffman (Vic Cello Festival), at Les rencontres musicales de Noyers and at Kronberg Academy Masterclasses.

In the last two editions of Joves Interprèts de l’Escola Victòria dels Àngels de Sant Cugat Competition (2009, 2011) and in VI “Corda de Barcelona” Competition (2012), held at Escola de Música de Barcelona, she was awarded with the first prize. Furthermore, she won the “Grand Prix” at the Flame Competition (2012), as well as the first prize at the International Vic Cello Festival Competition (2014).

Mariona Has Performed Throughout Europe

Mariona performed in Catalonia, France, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.

The opening concert at 30è Festival de Música Pau Casals (Vendrell) should be highlighted for Mariano - among other fifteen cellists from all over the world - became part of the group Viol·loncelistes de Barcelona, under the conduction of Lluís Claret. She also took part in Gala Estrellas de Navidad (Burgos) organized by Ángel Corella Foundation with Corella Ballet Company.

Mariona Continues to Perform

She has performed as a soloist accompanied by Jove Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès, and conductor Gilles Apap. She has also premiered the piece “Tema de Julia”, by Gerard Pastor for the film “Sonata per a violoncel”, accompanied by Orquestra Camera Musicae with Tomàs Grau as the conductor. Moreover, she has played the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto n.1 accompanied by JONC Filharmonia, under the conduction of Manel Valdivieso.

She currently plays a Marc Laberte (1921) which belonged to Pablo Casals.
